Fellowship of the stick.

I made this image a while ago and have been looking for an excuse to put it up. It’s nearly April 1st, and this seems to fit the spirit of that quasi-holiday.

Nice! I can even recognize them all. :) Though don’t quiz me on the specific hobbits.

  2. Browncoat says:

Would this be the Fellowship of the Walking Sticks (Including the Quiver Full of Little Walking Sticks)?

  3. Liritar says:

    Whoot! OOTS crossover! Amazing. *Grins*

  4. Kiwi C. says:

Are you going to send it to Rich Berlew as fan art? It’s great!

  5. Jeremiah says:

Oh man, that’s awesome. My 2 favorite web comics all in one!

  6. Paul says:

Who’s the hot chick on the far left?

Paul Says: “Who's the hot chick on the far left?”

Fantabulous! The comic & that comment almost make up for no DMotR today.

I’m curious. What inspired you to make this image? Or would I already know if I had a clue about who Rich Burlew is?

  9. CryptoKnight says:

    ROTFL!

I love Boromir’s eyes! It looks like he’s gazing at Frodo and the ring. Like he’s longing for the PRECIOUS…

    Great stuff, as always.

    Cheers!

    MOM,

    Go here: http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0001.html

That’s the first Order of the Stick comic. I started when it was around strip 200, and it’s so good that I read it straight through from the beginning in one sitting (well, 2 sittings, but not because I wanted to stop reading…). I think they just broke 400, so it’s quite a read, but well worth it.

And yes, while it was quite enjoyable just to begin with, Paul’s comment just about made me pee myself with laughter (and Browncoat’s was good, too).

The only two I’m not sure about is which is Pippin and which is Merry. Everyone else I’m pretty sure about… but only because there’s only on elf shown. If there were two, obviously, one would be LeggyLass and the other would be the future queen of Gondor, but telling them apart would be quite hard.

  11. Bard says:

    Why not March 25, though?

  12. Bard says:

Excellent Aragorn, by the way. I’d all but forgotten that’s how I pictured him before the movies came along.

…Hm, if I had to guess, Pippin’s the blond one, just to fuel blond stereotypes and because he’s wearing more conventional hobbity colors.

  13. -Chipper says:

The cross-outs on the by-line are a nice touch.

  14. wintersweet says:

I’m amused by Frodo’s eyebrows. (I got to a point while watching the movies where I had to cover my eyes every time he did The Distressed Eyebrows.)

  15. bloopy says:

completely off topic but fyi, there’s a new version of desktop tower defense:

  16. MOM says:

Pippin is wearing purple. You can tell he is the youngest by the position of the eyes. Really, very good work, Shamus

  17. phlux says:

MOM: If you’ll notice he’s also just a LITTLE bit shorter than Merry. In keeping with the books and the Ent-Draught bit and their competition over who is taller. Nice little detail there. Very subtle.

  18. Shamus says:

Wow. I wasn’t even sure if anyone would notice the eye position. :)

  19. AndrewNZachsDad says:

Fantastic job, Shamus. I’m sure that Tolkien would (and Burlew will) love it.

One little thing that may have made my cut of inside jokes would have been a piece of tape wrapped around Aragorn’s sword. But that’s just me. :)

    Richard (!Burlew)

  20. Skeeve the Impossible says:

    Is Pippin giving the finger?
    tee hee

  21. Mrs T says:

Shamus, have you seen Neill Cumpston’s review of Return of the King? I think you’d appreciate his humor. :)

  22. AndrewNZachsDad says:

Um, Mrs T? Read much of the rest of Shamus’s blog? Neill’s humour might be spot on, but it is kinda hard to tell through all the profanity. I’m as susceptible to a well-timed dick or gay joke as anyone, but the rant at the site you referred waws making me uncomfortable. I wasn’t even able to finish it. And I’ve read Old Man Murray! :)

Ah, well. I’m always looking to expand my horizons. Thanks for the opportunity, Mrs T!

    Richard

  23. Clarifon says:

I think Legolas is giving me the finger

  24. phlux says:

Mrs T: I have no problem with his humor OR his language…but his grammar is atrocious. I prefer my foul-mouthed diatribes to be correctly spelled and punctuated. Anything less just detracts from the humor.

  25. Why does Pippin step on Merry’s foot, and Frodo on Sam’s?
