Crass Merchandising

My wife has discovered Zazzle, a site along the lines of CafePress. You upload your stuff, and they put it onto a t-shirt or mug or whatnot for sale. Zazzle offers more options and a bigger cut of the proceeds. (Not that I’ve sold anything yet, I’m just going by what I see in the fine print.) She’s been filling her Zazzle account with her photographs and watercolor paintings. (I love this one.) Merchandising aside, she seems to enjoy the process of making this stuff for its own sake. Having exhausted her supply of material to merchandise, she’s decided to set up a DMotR store.

I’ve been meaning to do something like this for a long time. People keep saying “I’d buy that on a T-shirt” and I keep thinking “I really ought to get around to that”. She cruised through the comic archives and looked in the comments for popular quotes, and made them available on whatever knicknacks they have over there.

If you have a favorite quote that you don’t see in the store, or you want to request something a little different, please drop a comment below. Heather will be reading this I’m sure, and looking for an excuse to make more stuff. Alas, we can’t put images from the comics themselves onto t-shirts. You know how it is.

Another reason to like Zazzle: They generate cool little things like the ad below, which makes it a lot easier to show off what you’ve got.

first post. OH I guess that doesn’t matter here. Awww well

Check it out those are nice. and they have your web address on them. Who could have come up with such a clever idea.

  2. Aaron says:

Excellent Shamus. I’ve been trying to talk my wife into getting me the “My dice…” T-shirt. Now I can actually show her where! The land-mines one is awesome too!

  3. Johnedko says:

I would like a mug with “Vader quote for the win!”

    -John

PS: You are truly a genious with your writings, you have been quoted in meetings at my office. :-)

  4. Chris says:

Just in time for GenCon! I wonder how many I’ll see there. :>)

By the way, are you going to GenCon this year Shamus?

  5. Amanda says:

WOW! Your wifes work is wonderful!

  6. Alan says:

I think I’d be tempted by a “Vader quote for the win!” t-shirt myself.

    How very sad!

  7. Inane Fedaykin says:

I’d like to see the panel where Aragorn says “I’ve altered the deal…” and underneath it can have a caption saying “God, I hope they consider this parody”

  8. Brian says:

“PS: You are truly a genious with your writings, you have been quoted in meetings at my office.”

In other news, I wouldn’t mind one of those “I hate this campaign” mugs. Quickly, Robin, to the Paypal account!

  9. Telas says:

Minor quibble… The DMotR logo looks great on a dark shirt, but the black “player motivation” writing doesn’t…

Can you create a white ink version, pleeeaaassseee? (/whine)

    Telas

  10. Telas says:

    Nevermind… I can customize on-site.

    (keanu) “Whoah.” (/keanu)

  11. Al Shiney says:

Outstanding! And a beer stein is one of the mug options to boot, it doesn’t get any better than that.

You’ll be receiving a large order from my wife (for me) and from me (for my gaming group who are all DMoTR fans) to prepare for the holidays.

    Yaaayyyy :-)

  12. Mrs T says:

‘Me and my minus five hit points are just going to take a little nap now.’ was very popular

As was ‘Decomposing of my own free will’

  13. LethalSpoon says:

If this works out well for you, perhaps a link outside of this post should be made available…you know, so we don’t have to search for this 2 months down the line when money is in abundance (me = broke).

  14. Rolld20 says:

Hmm, slight aesthetic note: I think the ‘Hates the dice’ quote would look better if ‘Hates them forever’ was together on the second line.
I like the ‘I hate this campaign’ slogan, but I’m afraid my GM might take it personally. :\

  15. ZackTheSTGuy says:

I ordered myself an ‘I hate this campaign’ mug. Awesome!

  16. xbolt says:

    “I’m an NPC.”

    I approve of this. :D

  17. Will says:

I know a couple people that may be interested in your fine wares.

What someone needs to offer is a line of shirts that lists personal stats.

    -Jock-
    STR: 18
    DEX: 15
    INT: 3
    CHA: 5

    -Nerd-
    STR: 4
    DEX: 8
    INT: 17
    CHA: 9

    Or even custom variations there-of.

  18. Ms Danson says:

Excellent. I have some GM birthdays cominig up.

  19. Ms Danson says:

Could you put “I’m an NPC.” on a coffee mug?

  20. ArchU says:

    That’s the right idea =)

  21. jubuttib says:

Great stuff, just one request for us non-d&d-folks: A version of the “My dice are trying to kill me” shirt with a d10. Pretty please?

  22. Rolld20 says:

    “I’m an NPC.”

Last night, my brain started free-associating, and added to this one: “Note: NPCs carry less than 20cp in loot.”

This slogan should definitely be on a red shirt. :)

  23. Cryptoknight says:

Just ordered me one ‘Me and my minus five hit points are just going to take a little nap now’ Tshirt. Total inside joke with my group. My last character was constantly going unconscious. How apropos. Thanks, Shamus!

  24. Susano says:

Needs a “My dice…” quote with some D6s for us HERO System players.

  25. Tonko says:

Oh my god. I love this. I need more geek shirts. :D

  26. MOM says:

does anyone carry large fuzzy twenty sided dice?

  27. MOM says:

They don’t look very fuzzy though.:)

  28. roxysteve says:

[MOM] Easy. Soak dice in water, leave in dark, warm place for about two weeks.

The longer you leave ’em, the fuzzier they get.

    Steve.
