Schrödinger’s Pants

If you just read Chainmail Bikini and don’t hang out in the forums you might have missed it, but Shawn and I (er, mostly Shawn so far) have begun doing “Wednesday updates”, where we post some bit of art or other funny stuff that’s related to the comic but doesn’t fit into the story.

Yesterday Shawn posted bit bit about “Schrà¶dinger’s Pants“. He and I both have different ideas about what sort of pants the Ramgar character is wearing. He thinks of it one way, I think of it another, and the “answer” has never appeared in the strip. He even has a poll going over at FtB so people can make their own guesses.

Which is it? What is he really wearing? How long until the situation forces us to see him from the waist down? I guess we can all argue about it fruitlessly until we find out. That seems to be the way you’re supposed to do things on the internet, and we are nothing if not rigorous stewards of tradition.

Hmm, this totally made me look down, whether or not my own pants still existed…

  2. Phlux says:

I totally missed out on this. Is there a way it could be included in the main ftb.com/comic. Not necessarily insinuated into the comic continuity, but just made accessible?

  3. Shamus says:

The bonus stuff appears in the RSS feed, if you’re an RSS type of person.

  4. Tango says:

I love the RSS feed on LiveJournal… now if only my new journal style would adapt to images wider than the main column…

  5. Taelus says:

Also Phlux, there’s a link to it at the bottom of the comic. The possible options so far look very entertaining. I’m personally voting for a tutu :-)

Anyway Shamus, since I don’t mess around on those forums much, you guys are doing a bang up job with Chainmail Bikini, no matter what anyone else says.

  6. Taelus says:

    Err…umm…

Assuming “bang up” is a good thing… I suppose I should really look up my slang before just tossing it out… Assuming tossing it out means using it in a statement… oh spit.

  7. MOM says:

I don’t know about the pants but from the pictures it seems he is wearing fuzzy slippers on his feet. This makes me think he is perhaps wearing pajama bottoms.

  8. Mike says:

Sounds like Wilson’s face on Home Improvement….

  9. Shawn says:

It’s on the RSS feed, and I’ll try to remember to update the blurb at the bottom of Monday’s comic with a link every Wednesday.

  10. Shawn says:

There’s also a link under the comic to Bonus Features, which will link to all of the Wednesday Updates.

  11. Greg says:

I wonder if anyone reads comments posted in an older thread…

Well, as far as I know, he’s wearing all possibilities of pants at the same time, and simply hasn’t been forced into one set in particular by my own outside influence, yet.

Still, I’d like to think that when I DO force him into a choice by viewing the bottom, that he will in fact be wearing

  12. Huckleberry says:

I’d say, the player just doesn’t have a clear picture of his chars pants in his head at all. So they may just vary ingame, depending on circumstances.
