Here is a rap song video about the Large Hadron Collider, in which you can see pictures of the massive facility, as well as view footage of white people dancing very badly.

You’re welcome.

Yeah, it’s an incredibel piece of music. My physics teacher sent it to me a couple of weeks ago, apparently he has worked at CERN, but they didn’t do this type of thing back then he claims.

  2. Smileyfax says:

My home county of Monroe, MI was pegged as a possible supercollider location back in the late 80s. Tragically, it was deemed that construction would be too expensive due to the water table.

    Damned water.

  3. Fenix says:

    Man….. that was corny….. bookmarked.

  4. Shandrunn says:

    Hahaha. “Background dancers: Prefer anonymity”

    A wise decision, I’d say.

  5. Huckleberry says:

As long as they find out all about Higgs particles and solve the probelm of gravity, I may just be able to be lenient when judging their dancing skills…

(My own dancing skills range somewhere around 1.5 Kelvin…)

    Oh, and: Thank you, Shamus!

  6. Adalore says:

Heheheh, enjoyed it, thanks for pointing it out.

  7. ngthagg says:

Looks like the LHC was overfunded.

  8. Kevin says:

Hey! I finally found a rap I can enjoy! All rappers should start teaching advanced subjects in their music.

    The “dancing” was hysterical.

  9. Justin says:

Is this proof the LHC failed?

Destroyed the world with tiny black holes?

  10. Carra says:

My geekness factor just went ++

  11. neminem says:

    Old news :P.

Seriously, I heard about this about a month ago, I think. More recent news, though, as of only about a week ago, is that the vocal track is publicly available for remixing: https://www.msu.edu/%7Emcalpin9/lhc_rap/largehadron.html

Which means, of course, that I simply can’t help but pimp my own contribution to the genre, available here: http://www3.hmc.edu/~afield/music/neminem_-_Black_Holes_and_Scientific_Revelations.mp3 ;)

Remember me? I’m the guy who mashup-geek’d out when you mentioned Norwegian Recycling a while back.

  12. Luke Maciak says:

I really can’t decide whether this is awesome, or totally, embarrassingly corny. I think it’s both.

    Thanks.

  13. kamagurka says:

Man, this just depresses me. I just read they have to shut the LHC down for more than a month because one of the superconducting electromagnets overheated or something…

  14. Joshua says:

I don’t really have much to say, other than that this gets a place in the “Best Rap Songs in the Universe” chapter of my imaginary “Best Things in the Universe” book.

  15. Murphy says:

neminem: Feels a little simplistic (I’m a big fan of Girltalk, so I enjoy my mashes ridiculously busy), but its definitely better than the original, and darn good.

  16. Galen says:

wow. I think I sprained my… brains. something about that made me want to rofl and be gouging out my ears at the same time… thanks Shamus!

  17. Rev.Blacky says:

    Neminem, it needs more cowbell!

    Cowbell maker! http://www.morecowbell.dj/

And if for some reason any of you DON’T know, how EPIC this is… Watch this.

    MORE COWBELL!! http://www.funnyhub.com/videos/pages/snl-more-cowbell.html

  18. Heph says:

Yarr, already seen it, it’s nice :-)

  19. K says:

Nearly as “good” as the old Microsoft Comercials.

  20. Nygelis says:

    Oh… Oh my…

  21. SiliconScout says:

    Rock on brutha’

    Rock on!

  22. Vertigo says:

makes me a bit sad that they keep getting set back by one thing or another, then again, with something that big and complicated there’s bound to be stuff going wrong :/

  23. Tacoman says:

    Thanks for the awesome, Shamus.

  24. Stephen Borchert says:

This short video explains LHC better than anything else in the media that I’ve seen.
