Spec Ops: The Line
A videogame that judges its audience, criticizes its genre, and hates its premise. How did this thing get made?
Are Lootboxes Gambling?
Obviously they are. Right? Actually, is this another one of those sneaky hard-to-define things?
The Mistakes DOOM Didn't Make
How did this game avoid all the usual stupidity that ruins remakes of classic titles?
D&D Campaign
WAY back in 2005, I wrote about a D&D campaign I was running. The campaign is still there, in the bottom-most strata of the archives.
Denuvo and the "Death" of Piracy
Denuvo videogame DRM didn't actually kill piracy, but it did stop it for several months. Here's what we learned from that.
I really need to know whether this is anything like the real game. My sister wants to get it, but I don’t think she wants to commit suicide.

… I guess you’ve got your answer, Kel’Thuzad.
Thats it bring Oprah into it! DOUBLE WAMMY! A Body Mass Index of OVER 9000!!!!
Wow. The panel with “Am I right?” followed by two “Yes” options really got me. Bravo.
I saw him Sunday and he lost some weight, folks. Such a good boy.
Kel'Thuzad, it’s nothing like that, LOL. The only thing is, if she has any possibly serious body issues (dysmorphia, anorexia, etc.) it could exacerbate things, because it’s a little crack-addled as to what “fat” is, since (duh) it’s a simple machine and calculates things simplistically. Other than that, it’s a lot of fun, and I’ve been enjoying using it.
i would consider getting a wii fit, but apparently i am too large to actually exercise on it.
i ought to grind their bones to make my bread…
The timer-thing in the last panel made me think of the neurotoxin-timers from Portal. Nice job
breaking it, heromaking me automatically associate Wii Fit with GLaDOS, Shamus. ;)Personally I have always found having the only options for a yes/no answer question to be “Yes” and “Maybe” extremely hillarious.
Lanthanide: I couldn’t decide between “Yes/Yes” or “Yes/Maybe”., or which one was “funnier”. It was more or less a coin toss at the end.
How about “Yes/Yes, but…” (though I guess the button’s too small for that last one). :)
Looks like they changed where it is (bad link?)Shamus-I keep getting a 404, but when I visit the site and hit latest it comes up.
I liked the ‘Favorites’ Button. My favorite way to crucify myself? Tori amos? No….. Ice cream? YES!!!!
Sadly, this isn’t the first time I’ve heard complaints about WiiFit. Not a good buy, especially since most people stop using it after a month or so.
Personal opinion? “Yes/Yes” fit the personality of the Wii Fit better. Do ya really think after all of its rant it was going to give you a chance to weasel out of anything [grin]?
The answer to your question: No. It’s not just you.
“Brain Age” isn’t much nicer. It’s all very Japanese. Shaming, but passively so.
However, I sometimes wonder if the Japanese versions of these games don’t tell players that their “Emperor is a God” and they should “bomb the harbor, once their BMI hits 25.” Can anyone translate the Japanese? ;)
(Hey! My “Wavatar” changed!)
Maybe you need a different game. How about, Weight Fat?
