Another excellent strip Shamus. The more I hear about gamepunx, the more I really do want to subscribe. Or buy back issues, as the case may be. :)

King E3 is dead! Long live the king!

  2. Phase says:

Nearly a hundred Stolen pixels. That would be kinda intrusive if the blank space always followed my mouse…

  3. Julian says:

Travis has always been snarky, but it seems E3 has given him a newfound wit that is just a joy to read.
“people were talking about Left 4 Dead 2. I dunno what year it was, but given how long it takes Valve to make a sequel I figure it must have been 2015 or so.” Lovely!

My head is going to explode now. How do they expect me to stand the anticipation of having to wait for TWO Monkey Island titles?

  4. Ghantu says:

Man… talking about E3 (loosely), Amazon sent me an e-mail to hype the

    TOP 10 GAMES FROM E3 2009

    They were:
    1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
    2. New Super Mario Bros.
    3. Assassin’s Creed II
    4. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
    5. Bioshock 2
    6. Left 4 Dead 2
    7. Halo ODST
    8. Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board
    9. Wii Sports Resort
    10. Forza Motorsport 3

Um… can we get a game that’s not a sequel? The best part is, the only video that really intrigued me was SWtOR, and it’s not even on the list!

  5. Vladius says:

Will you do something special for #100?

  6. Sam says:

I had a roommate named Travis once. He’s exactly like your Travis, only slightly more douche-y. I’m glad I can laugh about it now.

As for Ghantu’s question, no. We’ll never see another original intellectual property ever. It’s just sequels and remakes from here on out. Oh, and everyone’s going to boycott them all because they’re sequels, and, therefore, too similar to the original games. Because sequels have to be completely different games than the ones they’re based on.

  7. Sydney says:

The time machine jokes in the sidebar were the best part of all of it.

  8. RichVR says:

I loled, I cried. Great stuff.

  9. Xpovos says:

I second Sydney’s comment. I think I injured myself trying to contain my laughter so that I don’t wake the baby.

Worse, then I have to try to explain it to my non-gamer wife.

  10. “I did get someone at Valve to pay me twenty bucks to quell the boycott, so that’s something.”
    /me hides

  11. Rutskarn says:

Fear and Loathing at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, eh?

  12. Ergonomic Cat says:

Serious question: What’s wrong with sequels?

You know the world. You know the style. You get more of what was good.

I’ll take Final Fantasy 13 over New World That Took More Time To Come Up With Than Make Fun 1….

I’m pretty sure I’m more often disappointed by new IP than sequels….

  13. Sheer_FALACY says:

It’s not like FF13 is really a sequel. New world, new characters, new combat system, newish story… If Square had just named all of the FFs rather than giving them numbers, no one would have complained.

  14. Allerun says:

Is it just me or is the site getting really sloooow?

  15. Noble Bear says:

    Hysterical.

I shared the strip with my wife; Travis is now her new favorite personality.

I’m curious: Who draws Travis or you do it your self? What program?
