Trashing the Heap
What does it mean when a program crashes, and why does it happen?
Tenpenny Tower
Bethesda felt the need to jam a morality system into Fallout 3, and they blew it. Good and evil make no sense and the moral compass points sideways.
Hardware Review
So what happens when a SOFTWARE engineer tries to review hardware? This. This happens.
Are Lootboxes Gambling?
Obviously they are. Right? Actually, is this another one of those sneaky hard-to-define things?
What Does a Robot Want?
No, self-aware robots aren't going to turn on us, Skynet-style. Not unless we designed them to.
I blame it all on Mel Brooks’ brother.
I really laughed at the last panel… didn’t see it coming!
Heh. I didn’t see it coming either. Nice one.
There really were a lot of zombie games this year; and a couple of movies as well. Maybe the CDC is secretly preparing us for the outbreak they know is coming.
That’s funny. :)
Having never played any of these games, I thought the driving sequence was actually part of Left 4 Dead, especially given the dialogue, so I guess the surprise of the final panel was completely lost on me. Oh well, I guess this now stands as the first time I didn’t find a comic funny because I didn’t play the game. Nice work on that front most of the time, by the way.
Aw, Shamus you got my hopes up! I thought this was going to be the setup for a Left 4 Dumb 2 series!
Never played either game but this was one of the funniest you’ve done in a while. Although my familiarity with your Left 4 Dumb characters probably helped.
Awesome. Would read again. ;)
I love how you even worked in Francis HATE-ing something :D
I’m glad someone else has noticed the over-use of zombies as of late. I’m really burned out on the fad myself, and I used to be a huge zombie movie buff.
@ Amstrad, Better than the vampires fad.
But if Bill rolls up his window, he can’t use the reaper!
OMG! Bill still carries that broom around! That was what made the comic for me – the broom!
The advantage that you have with the column-strip format is that you can get a great visual reveal at the end. That works in a horizontal format too, but unless people have tunnel vision they’ve probably already at least glanced at the last panel, even if they don’t read the text.
With a long column I actually have to scroll down to see the last panel and am occassionally rewarded as such with a good twist that I didn’t see coming.
