I played a lot of Plants Versus Zombies last weekend. Tremendous fun. Although, I do wonder where they get their ideas.

  1. What I want to know is…

Where did you get that shot of the computer in the basement? Is that what YOUR basement slave development house looks like?

      Free stock photo site. :)

  2. wtrmute says:

You know, a giant bunny WOULD be fun… ;-)

  3. eri says:

We all know that’s actually how they develop games over at PopCap. Some intern came up with Bejeweled while taking his weekly bathroom break in the corner of the office.

  4. chabuhi says:

    “PopCap Games”

“Crapping out quality games since 2000”

    1. chabuhi says:

Er, I mean … “PopCrap Games”?

  5. Actual conversation with my GF last week:
Me: Sweaty, I’m going to get you Plants Vs. Zombies!
    her: …

    Why?

Me: It’s a tower defense game, and you’re addicted to those. And it’s _adorable_
Her: It’s an adorable zombie game?!
    Me: yup…

I’m hoping “sweaty” is a typo for “sweety” … But hey, who am I to judge your pet names? :)

      1. Drew says:

I was thinking the same thing. Hilarious.

        1. Namfoodle says:

I used to call my wife “shnooky” but I like “sweaty” better.

  6. GuiGuiBob says:

My question to them would rather be : How do they manage to get anything done once they start playing them.

  7. Vladius says:

My dad just got addicted, as well. He picked it up after one day and is now buying it for all his coworkers.

  8. Alejandros says:

When I saw the title, I was convinced it would be some mashup of L4D and Plants vs Zombies, describing the new types. You’ve got the Boomer, the PoleVaulter, and the BobsledTeam.

  9. Heron says:

My wife beat the game before I did – and I had a two-week head start.

    1. Namfoodle says:

I guess she has a green thumb.

  10. Drew says:

I played a fair amount, and maybe it eventually gets tricky, but it seemed awfully easy for a long time, and I got bored before I got challenged. It certainly was cute, though.

  11. Corran says:

I’m horribly, horribly addicted to the Vasebreaker Endless puzzle game in PvZ.

I just have to play nearly every day to try and beat my 33 game streak.

Is this game laced with crack cocaine or something?

    1. Namfoodle says:

Wow, 33 is impressive. I don’t think I’ve gotten past 10. It’s so stressful when you break a vase and the giant zombie pops up in some inconvenient spot and slooooowly walks toward the brain.

      1. Corran says:

        Got to 34 today. :D

        1. Corran says:

I know no one is going to read this but I just had to mention somewhere that I got a 39 streak. lol

          1. Corran says:

            42 now. :D

  12. Ramsus says:

Plants vs Zombies is probably one of the best things to come out of the recent zombie fad. That being said…I’d totally play Vader vs Zombies.

  13. Deoxy says:

Heh. Tower Defense games barely register on the addiction scale to me now. If you value your sanity, stay away from Dwarf Fortress.

    But yeah, PopCap is amazing.
