The Christianity Network

I mentioned before that I found Steven’s article facinating. He was using the church to talk about operating systems, although I had fun with it using operating systems to come up with different ways of thinking about the church.

The resulting post just didn’t seem like it would fit here on my “Geek Culture” site. Now I have another blog with my wife focusing on Christianity. I don’t expect this to appeal to most of my readers here, and that’s fine, but I might have a few Christian readers who find the site has something to offer.

    I’ll go take a look.

    You know what’s cool?
When you find a site you really like, and then it turns out the guy in charge is into even mores stuff you like!

I love your analogy of the protestant church routing around damage.

Good stuff. Hope to read more of it as you progress.

(now, if you can just make your RSS full-text…)

Totally OT comment, but G4’s Attack of the Show just did a quick review of DM of the Rings; they made fun of its geek factor (seriously, why does the closest thing to a “geek channel” out there have to take an anti-geek tone so often? Anyway, minor digression…), but did say it was “pretty funny.” Not sure how many people watch G4 anymore, but you might have another hit spike coming soon; figured you should be warned. ;)

Great article. It’s a great parallel. I wish more people in the non-Nerdcore could understand it.

  5. Crusader Corim says:

I think you’d be surprised how many of us would care. I know my nerdity, like yours, is influenced by my faith. I think there is a lot more depth to most of us than we’re given credit for.

  6. Deoxy says:

That was a good article… and I’m with Crusader Corim – there are more us than you think. More than I usually think, too, and it’s nice to be reminded from time to time.

Agreed: there are a lot of Christian fantasy fans. Which is one reason it’s sad there are so few good fantasy novels of a Christian slant. Christian publishers act like they are allergic to them, not realizing that most of the Christian “classics” are fantasy (Pilgrim’s Progress, Narnia, LotR, Milton, Dante, etc.) because the genres really do work together well.

  8. Telas says:

Wait – I though Christians were angry and vindictive persecutors of free men everywhere!

Could it be that the popular culture has been lying to me?!?!

    :p

Sigh. I go trawling through the archives and now the link is dead, and presumeably the blog is gone.

I don’t suppose the posts are still out there somewhere? I’d love to see them.

I’m sorry to see that your Christianity blog is defunct. I’ve been looking for someone to talk to who is Christian but not church-laden.

Anyway, here is a link to some ideas that I have about particle physics that I posted about twenty years ago. I know this sounds like typical nut-speak, but I’m guessing that you’re not going to assume that I’m a nut just because I am strange. I have a feeling you may actually read this story.

Twenty years is a long time. I’ve developed the ideas since then. If you’re interested, the email I’ve provided works and I check it every day.

    Actual Theory of Everything (no…really)
