PAX Meetups – Who wants books?

Lots of people have expressed an interest in buying books from me at PAX. The concern is that books are heavy, and I don’t want to carry around ten books just to sell one. If you want a book, please let me know in the comments.

The two places you will find me, for sure, are:

Friday 10:30pm, Wyvern Theatre – The Escapist Movie Night

Saturday 10:00pm, Naga Theatre – An Evening with LoadingReadyRun

I might be found at other places and times, but these are your two guaranteed meetups. If you want a book, it would be super-nice if you could tell me which day so I don’t run out or over-pack.

I would be interested in buying a book there.

  2. ccesarano says:

Would you get more money if I bought a book from you there or purchased for Kindle?

    1. Shamus says:

Book. The books I sell directly are the most profitable. Of course, I have to pay for them up front, ship them, carry them, store them. So it only makes sense to do this at cons.

      1. X2Eliah says:

Pardon me for saying this, but such a convoluted setup surely sounds like a *puts on sunglasses* con. *banjo solos all around*

        1. Eruanno says:

Sir, please step aside for a beating. *Twirls baton*

      2. ccesarano says:

Then I would be interested in purchasing a physical book.

  3. Jon says:

I’m still debating between a copy for my iphone, or a physical book. What does a hard copy cost? Either way I’ll be at PAX and would like to meet you :)

    1. Newbie says:

I’d buy a book if I were you. I love my new book it’s now my favourite pet. I think my rock has gotten jealous, I keep finding it on top of booky in the morning. The other good thing is it’s so heavy that I’m pretty sure I could kill a man who tried to burgle my house with it, also it would make Shamus the most tired person at Pax East.

      TEAM BOOK!

  4. Wandring says:

You may as well plan to bring as many books as you can humanly manage, because it still won’t be enough…

    1. Drew says:

This is probably true. PAX is huge.

That said, I’ll be bringing my own copy and trying to locate you to get it signed.

  5. Cognimancer says:

I’ll probably be at LRR on Saturday- I’d be interested in buying a book off you if I see you there!

  6. Adam P says:

I’d be interested in buying a book. I’ll be at both of those panels, so I’d likely be buying one on Friday.

  7. Jack V says:

“9.5 comments. 9 comments, plus someone is typing _right now_”

I’d not seen that one before. I love the comment count indicators, I love how each one seems to come up more often than you’d expect.

  8. Sydney says:

Wait, does this count as a pre-order? If so, will we get a better pre-order pack if we go through Heather instead?

    1. ccesarano says:

I want my Witch Watch Bookmark DLC and Reading Flashlight activation code.

      1. Shamus says:

Please consider buying the Day 1 DLC I released with the book. It’s a handful of pages you stuff in the middle and it adds a whole new adventure that is never discussed or referenced later and has no impact on the resolution to the story.

        1. Adam P says:

I’ll only buy it if the setting is a suspiciously spacious sewer.

          1. decius says:

The DLC is set in two different locations: The first half is under the North Sea, in the year 1376 AD. The second half occurs entirely within Lord Babbage’s wife’s bedroom’s closet’s lock’s second cylinder.

EDIT: Wait… that was the ‘hot coffee’ fanfic mod that I unlocked, the DLC is actually a primer on exactly how different a slightly elliptical sorcery circle is, and why one would want to use one for certain purposes

            1. krellen says:

I’d actually pay for that last item.

        2. ccesarano says:

Speaking of resolution, all the pages I turn better have an impact on how the last ten pages turn, otherwise what’s the point?

          1. decius says:

If you don’t turn all the pages first, the last ten pages don’t make a lot of sense.

            Does that count?

  9. Mailbox says:

Book for me please. Escapist Panel, Friday.
Is it too late to get the Collectors Edition?

    1. Shamus says:

The collectors’ edition costs twice as much and looks exactly the same, except I write “Colector’s Edditon” on the front. Over the logo.

More seriously, look forward to seeing you again this year.

      1. MichaelG says:

Perhaps you could shed a little blood, sweat or tears (readers choice) on each “Collectors Edition”?

      2. Decius says:

if I bring my regular edition and a sharpie, will you upgrade me?

      3. Decius says:

“#1 colect[e|o]rs Editionn” actually. I can make a strong case for that letter being an Echo or an Oscar.

        1. Shamus says:

I was so worried I was going to accidentally spell it right, thus ruining the joke. I’m glad it was wrong enough.

  10. Regiment says:

I’d like to buy a book. I’ll be at the Escapist panel (and most of the panels you’re going to on Friday – it’s like you copied my schedule).

  11. RickD says:

“Long time reader, first time poster” :D I’m interested in buying a book … hopefully I’m not too late! I’m planning on making it to the Escapist Movie Night and the LoadingReadyRun panels.

  12. Bubble181 says:

Y’know, given some advertising, I’m pretty sure you could sell hundreds of books thee. Right target audience, and all that. But I don’t suppose you intend to live from con to con like a webcomic artist :-P

That aside: is there any way to influence Amazon’s amount of books in stock? I was going to buy 2 or 3 from amazon.de, but claim to have just one in stock – one book had a delivery date of 3 days, 2 book s had a delivery date of 3 weeks… Eh, I’ll wait for the price drop to buy the gift versions ;-)
