(AKA teabagging.)
Juvenile and Proud
Yes, this game is loud, crude, childish, and stupid. But it it knows what it wants to be and nails it. And that's admirable.
This Game is Too Videogame-y
What's wrong with a game being "too videogameish"?
Lost Laughs in Leisure Suit Larry
Why was this classic adventure game so funny in the 80's, and why did it stop being funny?
Silent Hill 2 Plot Analysis
A long-form analysis on one of the greatest horror games ever made.
Blistering Stupidity of Fallout 3
Yeah, this game is a classic. But the story is idiotic, incoherent, thematically confused, and patronizing.
As much as I love L4D(ead/umb), I think it’s time to do comics on a new subject ;)
I think that teabaging was first made popular in Counter Strike, not in Halo. I am not sure though.
Hello Shamus,
It was fun playing with you on Left 4 Dead. Twentysided steam group was the reason I bought this game (that, and the Freaky Friday/Saturday free trial). Hope we can play again soon.
Now to the point. According to Wikipedia entry for Left 4 Dead, the zombies in this game are not… zombies (in the strictest sense):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Left_4_Dead#Infected_characters
>>An important distinction is that the Infected are not traditional undead zombies, but rather living humans infected with a rabies-like pathogen. In an interview with 1Up.com, Mike Booth commented on the concept of using a pathogen as an inspiration for the setting:
“Even though we obviously pushed well beyond the realm of believability with many of our “boss” Infected, the core idea of a mind-destroying, civilization-collapsing pathogen is more horrifying to me than magically animated corpses, precisely because it is plausible.”<<
I know this ruins the joke in the comic (that the now-dead foe was also dead before he was killed) but I just couldn’t resist pointing out this little factoid :)
Not that I have an account or anything to comment with, but the comments for this strip on the Escapist seem to be disabled.
Edit: either I was asleep or they’ve just been enabled. Nothing to see here. Move along.
“You’re doing it, so no.”
Awesome.
As much as I like comics about other subjects, I think it is good to keep up doing Left4Dumb ;)
Awesome comic… love ’em all.
Since this is my first comment I might as well give some sort of introduction: I got into this website via the DM of the Rings, and after reading that I stopped coming here. However, since then I’ve returned and have been checking here somewhat regularly for new updates and stuff. So yes, I love your blog and your work with the Escapist, its all very nice and very high quality. Keep it up.
@ Simplex
A rose by any other name… =)
Exposition aside, it’s obvious they are created to be zombies even if not in the literal sense.
I also think of them as zombies. I didn’t even know they’re not supposed to be zombies until I read that Wikipedia article.
They are zombies; they’re just not undead.
My all time best gaming moment was coming up behind someone teabagging my corpse and shotgun blasting him in the head.
Best. Kill. Ever.
Zoey’s expression in the second panel is the best I’ve ever seen in a videogame. Perfection.
I still remember that YouTube video where the kid had made a Halo costume and realistic cardboard models of a bunch of weapons. He filmed himself doing the reloading animations from the game and followed it up with some teabagging – like he thought that was an intregal part of the game or something. Just Wrong.
