The Gameplay is the Story
Some advice to game developers on how to stop ruining good stories with bad cutscenes.
Shamus Plays LOTRO
As someone who loves Tolkein lore and despises silly MMO quests, this game left me deeply conflicted.
Deus Ex and The Treachery of Labels
Deus Ex Mankind Divided was a clumsy, tone-deaf allegory that thought it was clever, and it managed to annoy people of all political stripes.
Project Button Masher
I teach myself music composition by imitating the style of various videogame soundtracks. How did it turn out? Listen for yourself.
D&D Campaign
WAY back in 2005, I wrote about a D&D campaign I was running. The campaign is still there, in the bottom-most strata of the archives.
Shall we continue the “I’m offended” debate here then?
;)
Let’s not and say we did.
Actually, for posterity’s sake, let’s go ahead and say we didn’t, that we were in a different country at the time, and that (in a pinch) we don’t speak English.
Oh, yeah, and funny comic.
Kdanky: I did think it was funny we had that debate yesterday. The comic was already written, and I had to keep reminding myself that nobody had read it yet. :)
The annoucers get less profoundly annoying when you vary your fight strategy and brutalize people in different ways. The kind of have one smarmy thing to say about everything.
I’m just thankful Platinum gave us the option to turn down (or in my case, off) the BGM. Everything else is just over-the-top fun.
I still want to give it a try someday.
Very compelling lyrics.
Amazing laugh I had there… those lyrics were awesome. You should consider making a rap album or something… :P
No, I’m joking actually… it should be death metal. *nods* That way I’ll actually buy it.
